The Grotta del Presepe (Cave of the Crib) is a beautiful example of a sea cave located in Felloniche, a marina belonging to the municipality of Patù in the province of Lecce. The entire stretch of coastline in question sees the presence of a crystal-clear sea, which with its transparent seabed conveys that sense of infinity; at this point there are several currents that cross and merge to form a symbolic embrace between the Ionian and Adriatic seas. The presence of freshwater springs also makes these waters particularly fresh and inviting for a regenerating swim during hot summer days. The Grotta del Presepe (Cave of the Crib) is clearly visible from the perspective of the sea, so called because the presence of some natural limestone sculptures seem to depict the likeness of characters from the crib. This sea cavity develops through the formation of several arches that can only be reached when the sea is calm and without danger. The sea takes on different colours ranging from emerald to turquoise with small nuances that change according to the different times of day; the rich seabed is ideal for diving activities and the different points of the reef lend themselves marvellously to diving enthusiasts, so that they can enjoy that unique thrill of being thrown into the water in a fraction of a second.
