At least once!; how many times have we found ourselves in a discussion with friends about things to do in life at least once? Drive across the United States from New York to San Francisco?, visit the Norwegian fjords? Rome the eternal city? How many examples could ignite the curiosity in each of us; well, these albeit respectable destinations absolutely cannot miss the first sunrise of the year at Punta Palascia. The experience of admiring a bright sunrise rising from the sea in a riot of iridescent colours ranging from yellow to orange to white for an uncontrolled rush of emotions is unparalleled in the panorama of experiences to be had at least once in a lifetime. Punta Palascia is located on the south-eastern side of the Salento coast and is the most easterly part of Italy, on some nautical charts dividing the Ionian Sea from the Adriatic Sea. This is why the Salento is not only summer and this is why there are so many different characteristics that distinguish this magical land that gives emotions to the many visitors who from time to time decide to share the most touching moments of unique experiences. Italy"s first sunrise is synonymous with Punta Palascia, weather permitting. This very special astrophysical phenomenon is geographically linked with this marvellous land, so that Otranto, and Punta Palascia in particular, represent the meeting point of thousands of sensations and desires that are inflamed in this evocative dawn. Of course, it is unusual to describe an event that takes place in the middle of winter when we speak of the beautiful coastline of Salento, but this area is also surprising for this reason. Just as a sunset over the sea can excite each one of us as we stand still and contemplate such a spectacle, so too is the first dawn of the year to be shared with loved ones and preserved in the book of our most precious memories... Happy holidays at Punta Palascia.
