Torre Pàlane

Salento, Marina Serra - Tricase: Torre Palane is a 16th-century tower located in Marina Serra, a town that falls under the municipality of Tricase in the province of Lecce. Torre Palane is part of the complex defence and watchtower system erected during the 16th century along the entire Salento coastline to cope with the constant raids by Saracen pirates who raged the coast at the time. Quadrangular in shape, it is developed in two single storeys divided by a curb, and the final part continues with a central body surrounded by corbels that draw its classic shape. The Palane Tower as a whole is preserved in excellent condition. Recently restored, it stands as a sentinel of the area on a low cliff overlooking the azure waters of the Adriatic Sea. The building communicated to the north with Torre del Porto di Tricase and to the south with Torre Nasparo. Today, as an illustrious testimony to a time long gone, the Palane Tower is a popular destination for many tourists who cross this coastline every year to discover an area to be experienced for the strong emotions it continues to offer. The sea, the coastline, the nature trails through expanses of Mediterranean scrub, dry stone walls and centuries-old olive trees represent a unique wealth for the Salento, and the Torre Palane completes the complexity of a marvellous landscape. This is Puglia in all its beauty, glimpses of an area that conveys emotions from any perspective, this is the Salento with its thousand-year history... have a good summer at Marina Serra.

Piscina Naturale di Marina Serra

Salento, Marina Serra - Tricase: Bathed by the azure waters of the Adriatic Sea, the south-eastern coast of Salento offers a variety of ideas to the traveller who decides to spend some of his or her time discovering a land to be experienced. Passing through these areas, the impression of the slowness of the passing of time is strong, a sense of tranquillity and relaxation pervades most of our sensations as we touch a landscape made up of small streets and villages that blend in with the surrounding countryside, the dry stone walls that trace most of the country paths and the centuries-old olive trees so twisted in their shape that they represent the emblem of a land that never ceases to amaze. We are in Marina Serra, a district of just 28 inhabitants that falls under the municipality of Tricase, in the province of Lecce; perhaps a name like any other, a small village in Italy, like so many others after all, but if you ask Google for help, the search will produce two words paired with Marina Serra: natural pool. Right at the foot of the 16th-century tower, a perfect combination of history and nature, we find one of the most beautiful and characteristic natural open-air swimming pools in Italy. This small inlet made up of a cliff surrounding a crystal-clear sea is Marina Serra"s pride and joy; the water is so clear and clean that you can look at yourself in the mirror, and letting yourself be massaged by that faint and constant wave motion is a pleasure that cannot be described with mere words. Access to the sea is via a small platform that leads directly into the water. The place is quiet and relaxing even in the height of summer and is frequented by both young people looking for fun and local families. The water has a shallow depth, so let your children play in peace and quiet. The excitement of the Marina Serra Natural Pool goes beyond a simple day at the beach; here the cool waters convey strong emotions in every respect. A small village Marina Serra, a great wealth; so if you are planning your holiday and decide to spend a few days in this area, don"t forget the Marina Serra Natural Pool... enjoy your summer.

Grotta Marina Naturale

Salento, Marina Serra - Tricase: Marina Serra is a small natural pearl, a small village in Italy that holds a unique treasure: the Natural Open-Air Pool. Situated in the municipality of Tricase, in the province of Lecce, Marina Serra overlooks the south-eastern side of Salento, where the Ionian Sea meets the Adriatic Sea in a voluptuous embrace of water currents propelled by that faint summer wind that blows relentlessly along these shores. The wide cliffs draw an evocative landscape of small hidden inlets, sea caves and a crystal-clear blue sea to complete the richness of this area. Once you get to Marina Serra, you just have to be lucky to find a parking space. Of course, the difficulty also depends on the time of year, but my advice would be to get there in the early morning; once you have parked your car, equip yourself with rock shoes or trainers, a hat and a beach towel, and drive towards the coast. On your way to the Natural Pool of Marina Serra via a short walk, you cannot fail to come across what is a true spectacle of nature, the Natural Sea Cave. This natural cavity appears to be the work of an expert architect, both for the fascinating play of light that the cave offers from its interior and for the luminous blue reflections that the water offers in a contrast of suggestive and enchanting colours. Needless to emphasise that such a spectacle is completely free of charge, just be careful during the descent if you are not fully trained, but once you reach the bottom you will be as if ravished by time in a unique experience completely isolated from the rest of the world. From the bottom of the cave, the glimpse of the circular entrance lit by the sun"s rays is incredibly attractive and you breathe an air of absolute relaxation and privacy. Beautiful emotions that only the natural sea cave of Marina Serra can convey for a summer as sparkling as the freshness of this clear sea... happy holidays from Salento.
