If you are in the mood for tranquillity and wish to spend a day at the beach outside the canonical patterns, far from crowded and noisy beaches, then the Spiaggia dei Paduli is the place for you. Surrounded by lush vegetation with large expanses of Mediterranean maquis mingling with sand dunes and expanses of soft, fine sand, this stretch of free beach is a true corner of paradise in the middle of nowhere. The crystal-clear blue sea is shallow for long stretches and then gently sloping, making it ideal for families with children. The Spiaggia dei Paduli is located between Torre Mozza and Lido Marini, two marinas belonging to the municipality of Ugento in the province of Lecce; this beach lies not far from the ancient 16th-century tower of Torre Mozza and is little frequented even in high season. There are few, if any, services and equipped lidos, so take only what you need with you, a cool bag full of cold drinks, a beach towel and a beach umbrella to plant. The Spiaggia dei Paduli (Beach of the Marshes) is so called because it is located right in front of the Paduli degli Spunderati reclamation area, an artificial basin connected to the sea by a canal that lies within an area rich in nature trails, ideal for nature lovers and those seeking close contact with unspoilt environments. Happy summer from the Spiaggia dei Paduli.
