The Spiaggia dei Ponticeddhri (Ponticeddhri Beach) is located at the Baia dei Turchi a fabulous inlet not far from Otranto in the province of Lecce. This suggestive stretch of coastline represents a true natural oasis lost in a bygone era; the stretch of sand on the Spiaggia dei Ponticeddhri is only a little more than ten metres long and is as if swallowed up by the green Mediterranean scrub and pine forests that mark the entire area, set in a context of large cliffs and small ravines that characterise much of the surrounding landscape. The transparent, crystal-clear sea becomes deep after a few strokes and the rich seabed lends itself marvellously to snorkelling in order to discover the most hidden corners of this fabulous bay. The Ponticeddhri Beach retains an unusual tranquillity even during the high season, and the place is ideal for those seeking some relaxation away from the daily grind of modern life. If you love comforts and cannot do without all the amenities you need for a day at the beach, this area is not for you. Forget the services and bar kiosks, there is something wild and lonely here and even your smartphone may be superfluous.
