During a relaxing stroll along the coast of Marina di Mancaversa while the sea gently kisses our feet with a continuous and perpetual wave motion so pleasing to the senses, here we come across the Spiaggia del Mare dei Cavalli. In the past, this tongue of sand was used by the locals to bring their horses to be washed well, an ancient custom that has left its mark over the years; in fact, you can still see the well-established traces left on the ground by the wheels of the carts. The Spiaggia del Mare dei Cavalli (Beach of the Sea of Horses) has its own special charm beyond its name and history; although modest in size, this small beach has soft, white sand that alternates in several places with stretches of shallow cliffs. The sea is shallow for long stretches, and there are many families with children and locals who reach this stretch of beach during daylight hours to plant their beach umbrella and enjoy a quiet day at the beach. There are few services on the beach, so I do not recommend the place to those looking for the comforts of a well-equipped and comfortable lido. If you decide to visit the Spiaggia del Mare dei Cavalli, take along a cooler bag full of drinks, your snorkelling shoes and a mask and flippers to explore these wonderful seabeds that lend themselves so well to snorkelling. The beach is located adjacent to the coast road and is not far from the town centre so it will not be difficult, if need be, to find a bar or a supermarket for any need. This is the beauty and richness of this land, this is Salento, have a good summer.
