The Cattapignula Beach is located in Otranto, in the province of Lecce. This beach lies within a beautiful inlet and its name, Cattapignula, derives from the local dialect meaning bat. In fact, at this stretch of coastline it is possible to see a cave in which several bats live and nest. Some stretches of the surrounding cliffs are covered in the green of the typical Mediterranean maquis and the view of the surrounding landscape is truly fascinating. The crystal-clear blue sea immediately becomes deep after a few strokes, and the sea bed so rich in life is ideal for snorkelling. The beach of Cattapignula is a true corner of lost paradise. Of course, one suggestion would be to rent a small boat and explore the most beautiful corners of this wonderful stretch of coastline. Summer is just around the corner, what are you waiting for, greetings from Otranto.
