The Salento is a land that constantly astonishes the traveller, who is intrigued by the infinite beauty of this area. Expanses of soft white sand alternate with rocky ridges falling sheer to the sea, uncontaminated and solitary oases surrounded by the green of dense pine forests and stretches of Mediterranean scrub with all the characteristic fragrances of aromatic herbs growing wild almost everywhere. Framing this marvellous panorama is the deep, transparent blue of a sea that needs no introduction, and it is above all the Adriatic coast, between Otranto and Melendugno in particular, that offers us true natural open-air swimming pools with the purity of the waters that have been awarded the prestigious Blue Flags in the past. Well, the Conca Specchiulla beach fits right into this environmental context; we are a few kilometres north of Otranto, on the eastern side of the Salento coastline, and the Conca Specchiulla beach represents a true corner of paradise on earth, lost in time and extraneous, thank God, to the kind of mass tourism that populates the southern coasts of Puglia every summer. Once you arrive at this characteristic inlet, you will be surprised by the contagious calm and by the intact and absolutely wild environment; there are few or no services, forget the equipped lidos and bar kiosks, here you only need to bring the bare minimum, rock shoes, a cool bag full of cold drinks, a beach towel, mask and flippers to explore these marvellous seabeds with the beautiful plays of light reflecting between the cracks in the cliffs. It doesn"t take much to settle in and experience a relaxing day at the beach in an intimate embrace with the surrounding nature. So if by chance you happen to be in the area, enjoy this place but with due respect and take your rubbish bags back with you, have a good summer at Conca Specchiulla beach.
