A place that is dear to me when I want to get out of the chaos of the city without going very far from Otranto, in the direction of Porto Badisco, is Torre del Serpe, which is located on the hill surrounding the city and is linked to so many legends of Otranto that it is depicted on the city"s coat of arms. Torre del Serpe first came into being as a garrison tower for the territory and secondly was used as a lighthouse for navigation precisely because of the hillside position in which it was built
