Torre Lapillo is a hamlet in the municipality of Porto Cesareo in the province of Lecce, and owes its name to the 16th-century tower that rises imposingly from the cliffs overlooking the sea. This tower is part of that complex of coastal towers scattered almost everywhere along the entire coast of Salento and which in past centuries represented a defence system against the raids of Saracen pirates who most often attacked the Salento coast. Today Torre Lapillo represents a monument that has been well maintained over the years and can be visited by booking at the Visitor Centre of the Palude del Conte Oriented Nature Reserve; the tower also hosts various services dedicated to local tourism. We look forward to seeing you in Torre Lapillo.
