The Torre Porto di Ripa or Torre di Andrano is a coastal tower in the Salento and is part of the watchtower system erected in the mid-16th century to defend the territory from the constant raids of Saracen pirates that raged the coast in those years. The Porto di Ripa Tower is located in the municipality of Andrano, specifically at Marina di Andrano, in the province of Lecce. This evocative tower stands on a small plateau about 50 metres from the sea. From here there is a beautiful panorama and the view is truly significant and full of emotion. In its present state, the Torre Porto di Ripa is a partly recovered ruin; this tower communicated to the south with Torre del Sasso and to the north with Torre Capo Lupo. This stretch of coastline is characteristic for its low cliffs and the presence of caves and small inlets, and Torre Porto di Ripa is located right next to the famous Grotta Verde (Green Cave) in the Marina di Andrano, one more reason to combine the beauty of the landscape, the freshness of this beautiful sea and the historical references of this fabulous corner of Apulia. Happy summer from Torre Porto di Ripa.
