The Cove of Grotta Monaca is an inlet of shallow reefs located north of Otranto; we are in the province of Lecce along a beautiful stretch of coast masterfully designed by mother nature, with suggestive inlets full of caves and bays all to visit that alternate with stretches of fine white beach, framed by the contagious blue of the mighty Adriatic Sea. The Cove of Grotta Monaca, the most famous in these parts for its splendid seabed full of life and a very clear sea, presents itself to our eyes as a gem set among the cliffs covered by the green of the typical and spontaneous Mediterranean scrub, and on the northern part of this bay it is possible to admire the homonymous Grotta Monaca, a sea cavity formed over time and which has a depth of about 80 meters. This cave can be admired directly from the sea in all its beauty although, it must be said, being a rocky and impassable stretch of coastline, access to the sea is not exactly one hundred percent guaranteed, but for the most daring, taking the opportunity to take a dip in these wonderful waters and admire the Grotta Monaca is an experience worth living because it is full of strong emotions. The name Grotta Monaca would derive from the fact that long ago these waters were inhabited by the monk seal and this would signify the specificity of this clean and transparent sea. Glimpses of a Salento all to visit and enjoy, have a good summer from Grotta Monaca Cove.
