Grotta del Fiume is located along a beautiful stretch of coast characterized by high cliffs that alternate with the green of the surrounding nature and in which large areas of Mediterranean scrubland stand out. We are in the cape of Leuca, the extreme tip of the Heel of Italy, in the locality of Felloniche, a marina in the municipality of Patù in the province of Lecce, and the Grotta del Fiume is part of a series of sea caves scattered throughout the surrounding area, as a distinctive sign of the shaping action of nature over the centuries. The River Cave owes its name to a still-visible depression dug in all likelihood by an ancient river to reach the sea; the cave can be reached from the sea by small boats so that its full beauty can be admired. The white limestone walls that color its surface contrast with the blue of a marvelous sea that takes on iridescent hues that fade through different shades of emerald green and turquoise and that change according to the different types of seabed. The cool, crystal-clear waters are ideal for diving enthusiasts but also for those who, in search of pure adrenaline, decide to savor that unique thrill of diving from prohibitive heights. Have a great summer from Felloniche"s River Cave.
