Grotta delle Ancore is located on that stretch of coastline that connects Porto Miggiano to Santa Cesarea Terme, characterized by broad cliffs and beautiful inlets that draw a landscape of singular wonder. Every corner, every rock, every ravine of this coastal stretch represents a story in itself, and the deep blue of the Adriatic Sea completes a fabulous panorama. The Grotta delle Ancore is one of the many sea caves in this specific area and can be reached along a path through a small staircase that is not exactly comfortable and safe (which I strongly advise against), by swimming perhaps taking advantage of snorkeling and discovering these beautiful seabeds, or by boat. In the height of summer, however, there are various local associations that organize various guided excursions to visit this beautiful stretch of coast in comfort. The bay that houses the sea cavity is very characteristic and the Anchor Cave appears to our eyes as a gash in the limestone rock and a regular entrance being the cave not very deep. In the middle of summer this place is quite busy and crowded with people looking for some refreshment or simply by those who enjoy a healthy regenerating swim. For diving lovers there are several stations from which to try their hand and go in search of pure adrenaline rush. The place is ill-advised perhaps when the sea is rough and the waves slam violently against the rocks, in that context it would perhaps be appropriate to sit in a sheltered spot and enjoy the perpetual and relaxing wave motion. The place where Anchor Cave is located turns out to be very secluded so perhaps bring a cooler bag full of cold drinks with you for possible needs. Happy vacations from the Grotta delle Ancore in Porto Miggiano.
