Located on the Ionian coast, in Lido Marini a hamlet that is part of the municipality of Ugento in the province of Lecce, Punta del Macolone is a small oasis of peace and sees the presence of several reservoirs that have now become an integral part of the territory. Travelling along our journey along the coastline that connects Gallipoli to Santa Maria di Leuca in a southerly direction, we come across this area rich in lush vegetation where one breathes an air of absolute relaxation, and even in the height of summer one feels that sense of detachment and tranquility compared to the nearby more crowded beaches. The Punta del Macolone is an area of great natural beauty, characterized by low, easily passable cliffs that are interspersed with stretches of soft, golden beach, and all the while the greenery of typical Mediterranean scrub to color a fairy-tale landscape. The Punta del Macolone is an ideal place for activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, boat trips and trekking along the coastal paths that wind through the various nature trails. The sea reflects different shades of blue and is shallow for large stretches with a seabed characterized by sand mixed with small rocks; the stretch of free beach is ideal for planting your beach umbrella, spreading your beach towel and enjoying a well-deserved day in the sun. The development of the various canals and reservoirs throughout the Punta del Macolone area has seen the proliferation of particularly rich local flora and fauna, adapting to the specific habitat found along this stretch of coastline. The whole landscape is worth a visit, even if it is just for a quick stop and take advantage of a refreshing swim in these wonderful waters.Have a good summer at Lido Marini.
