Riserva naturale orientata Palude del Conte

Torre Castiglione - Porto Cesareo

The Palude del Conte Oriented Nature Reserve is a protected natural area that falls under the jurisdiction of the municipality of Porto Cesareo, in the province of Lecce. This reserve, which covers a vast area, includes both the beautiful sand dunes mixed with Mediterranean scrub of Punta Prosciutto and Lido degli Angeli and the marine protected area of Porto Cesareo. The area between Torre Colimena, Punta Prosciutto and Torre Castiglione represents a naturalistic area where in addition to the striking sand dunes sees the presence of several water basins, vast reed beds, freshwater springs as well as dense Mediterranean scrub with native species of rare beauty. The richness and purpose of the Palude del Conte Oriented Nature Reserve consists precisely in safeguarding this territory from the carelessness of man who in past years has seriously endangered such delicate ecosystems. Happy vacations in Salento!
