Torre Chianca is a coastal tower in Salento and is part of the complex system of defense and sighting erected during the mid-16th century along the entire Salento coast to cope with the constant invasions of Saracen pirates. Torre Chianca overlooks the Ionian Sea and rises on a beautiful stretch of coastline characteristic for the expanses of soft, golden sand and the crystal clear blue sea; the tower is located between Torre Lapillo and Torre Cesarea and is in the classic quadrangular shape divided by a curb that delimits its end. Currently Torre Chianca houses the headquarters of the local maritime office of the municipality of Porto Cesareo and efforts are being made to make this important heritage usable to the public, waiting for positive feedback we wish you a good summer in Torre Chianca.
