Torre del Sasso is a coastal tower of Salento and is part of that complex of fortifications erected during the 16th century to defend the territory from the continuous incursions of Saracen pirates who raged the Salento coasts in those years. Torre del Sasso is located in the municipality of Tricase, in the locality of Serra del Mito and towers on a high cliff almost 400 meters above the sea, just to signify its position as a perennial sentinel, currently the Torre del Sasso is in a condition of total abandonment. In part almost completely collapsed this imposing ruin has the classic quardangular shape on a truncated-pyramidal base, the interior consisted of a single room with barrel vaults. Torre del Sasso falls under the Costa Otranto - Santa Maria di Leuca and Bosco di Tricase Regional Natural Park and communicated to the north with Torre Porto di Ripa and to the south with Torre del Porto di Tricase.
