Torre Lapillo is a hamlet of the municipality of Porto Cesareo in the province of Lecce, and it owes its name to the 16th-century tower that towers imposingly among the cliffs overlooking the sea. This tower is part of that complex of coastal towers scattered a bit everywhere along the entire coast of Salento and which in past centuries represented a defense system from the raids of Saracen pirates who most often attacked the Salento coast. Today Torre Lapillo represents a monument that has nevertheless been well maintained over the years, and it is possible to visit it by booking at the Visitor Center of the Palude del Conte Oriented Nature Reserve; the tower also houses several services dedicated to local tourism. We look forward to seeing you in Torre Lapillo.
