The Nasparo Tower is located in the municipality of Tiggiano in the province of Lecce, we are on the eastern coast of Salento, bathed by the blue waters of the Adriatic Sea and the Nasparo Tower is an example of coastal fortification and defense erected during the sixteenth century to cope with the continuous raids of Saracen pirates. The Nasparo Tower rises about 300 meters from the sea, and from the top of its promontory there is a beautiful view from which to admire that faint line that divides a turquoise sky from the blue of the immense Adriatic Sea; of course, the ideal would be to enjoy the dawn of a new day and catch a glimpse of the sun rising on the horizon, but even a simple visit to this beautiful example of a coastal tower would not be bad. Very little remains of the Nasparo Tower today; the building has a truncated cone base whose diameter turns out to be 11 meters, and is divided by a curb with the upper part, almost completely collapsed, ending in a cylindrical shape. The Nasparo Tower communicated to the north with Torre Palane and to the south with Torre Specchia Grande, and it stood in a strategic position in that from its view one could peer across the sea to the Cape of Otranto. The richness of an area that never ceases to amaze also passes through the history of these monuments, and they connect the beauty of the landscape with the rocks overhanging the sea and breathtaking views with the history of a wonderful land... welcome to Salento.
