Grotta del Fiume

Felloniche - Patú

The Grotta del Fiume (River Cave) is located along a beautiful stretch of coastline characterised by high cliffs that alternate with the green of the surrounding nature and in which large areas of Mediterranean maquis stand out. We are in Cape Leuca, the extreme tip of the Heel of Italy, at Felloniche, a marina in the municipality of Patù in the province of Lecce, and the Grotta del Fiume is part of a series of sea caves scattered throughout the surrounding area, as a distinctive sign of the shaping action of nature over the centuries. The Grotta del Fiume owes its name to a hollow that is still visible today, probably dug by an ancient river to reach the sea; the cave can be reached from the sea by small boats so that one can admire its beauty. The white limestone walls that colour its surface contrast with the blue of a wonderful sea that takes on changing hues of emerald green and turquoise that change according to the different types of seabed. The cool, crystal-clear waters are ideal for diving enthusiasts but also for those who, in search of pure adrenalin, decide to enjoy that unique thrill of diving from prohibitive heights. Happy summer from the Grotta del Fiume di Felloniche.
