The Capo Lupo Tower stands in Marina di Marittima, a hamlet in the municipality of Diso, in the province of Lecce. This tower is among the oldest coastal towers in Salento, as its construction dates back to around 1400, when it was erected as a watchtower and defence against Saracen pirate raids. The Capo Lupo Tower, now reduced to ruins, has a cylindrical shape divided by a conspicuous curb that delimits its final part. Being one of the earliest constructions compared to the rest of the coastal towers in Salento, the Capo Lupo Tower initially communicated with the marina of Castro, later Torre Diso was built to the north and Torre Porto di Ripa to the south. The Torre Capo Lupo is located on a high promontory from which a beautiful panorama can be enjoyed. Here one can breathe in an air of absolute relaxation and the surrounding nature mingles with historical references, creating pleasant stimulating emotions. The Capo Lupo Tower is located within a private property and is as if swallowed up by the typical Mediterranean maquis that characterises much of this area. Have a good summer from Marina di Marittima.
