Salento, Marina Serra - Tricase: Torre Palane is a 16th-century tower located in Marina Serra, a locality that falls under the municipality of Tricase in the province of Lecce. Torre Palane is part of the complex defense and watchtower system erected during the 16th century along the entire coast of Salento to cope with the constant raids of Saracen pirates that raged the coast at the time. Quadrangular in shape, it develops in two single floors divided by a curb, and the final part continues with a central body surrounded by corbels that draw its classic shape. The Palane Tower as a whole is preserved all in all in very good condition, recently restored it towers as a sentinel of the territory on a low cliff that directly overlooks the azure waters of the Adriatic Sea. The building communicated to the north with Torre del Porto di Tricase and to the south with Torre Nasparo, today as an illustrious testimony to a time long gone, the Palane Tower represents a coveted destination for many tourists who cross this coast every year to discover a territory all to experience for the strong emotions it continues to offer. The sea, the coasts, the nature trails crossing expanses of Mediterranean scrub, dry stone walls and centuries-old olive trees represent a unique wealth for Salento, and the Torre Palane completes the complexity of a wonderful landscape. This is Puglia in all its beauty, glimpses of an area that conveys emotions from any perspective you observe it, this is Salento with its millenary history... have a good summer at Marina Serra.
Salento, Marina Serra - Tricase: Bathed by the azure waters of the Adriatic Sea, the southeastern coast of Salento offers different cues to the traveler who decides to spend some of his or her time discovering a land to be experienced. Passing through these areas, the impression of the slowness of the passage of time is strongly felt, a sense of tranquility and relaxation pervades most of our sensations as we touch a landscape made up of small streets and villages that mingle with the surrounding countryside, the dry stone walls that draw most of the country paths and the centuries-old olive trees so twisted in their shape to represent the emblem of a land that never ceases to amaze. We are in Marina Serra a district of just 28 inhabitants that falls under the municipality of Tricase, in the province of Lecce; perhaps a name like any other, a small village in Italy, like so many others after all, but if you ask Google for help, the search will produce two words paired with Marina Serra: natural swimming pool. Right at the foot of the sixteenth-century tower, a perfect combination of history and nature, we find one of the most beautiful and characteristic open-air natural pools in Italy; this small inlet composed of a cliff surrounding a crystal-clear sea represents the pride of Marina Serra, the water is so transparent and clean that you can mirror yourself, and letting yourself be massaged by that faint and constant wave motion is a pleasure that cannot be described with simple words. Access to the sea is provided by a small platform that reaches directly into the water, the place is quiet and relaxing even in the height of summer and is frequented by both young people looking for fun and local families. The water maintains an all in all shallow depth so let your children play in peace, the emotions that the Natural Pool of Marina Serra reserves go beyond the simple day spent at the beach, here the cool waters convey strong emotions in all respects, take advantage of it to snorkel to discover beautiful seabeds or even just for a healthy regenerating swim, after which lay down your towel and let the Salento sun dry you off. A small Marina Serra village, a great wealth; so if you are planning your vacation and decide to spend a few days in these areas, don"t forget the Marina Serra Natural Pool...have a great summer.
Salento, Marina Serra - Tricase: Marina Serra represents a small natural gem, a small village of Italy that holds a unique wealth as the Natural Open-Air Pool. Located in the municipality of Tricase, in the province of Lecce, Marina Serra overlooks the southeastern side of Salento, there where the Ionian Sea meets the Adriatic Sea in a voluptuous embrace of water currents propelled by that faint summer wind that blows relentlessly along these coasts. The wide cliffs draw a striking landscape made up of small hidden coves, sea caves and a crystal clear blue sea to complete the richness of this area. Once you get to Marina Serra you just have to be lucky to find parking, of course the difficulty also depends on the period, my advice however would be to get there already in the early morning hours; once you have arranged your car, equip yourself with rock shoes or sneakers, a hat and a beach towel, and go ahead towards the coast. In reaching the Marina Serra Natural Pool via a short walk you cannot help but come across what represents a true spectacle of nature, and that is the natural Sea Cave. This natural cavity looks like the work of an expert architect both for the fascinating play of light that the cave offers from its interior and for the bright blue reflections that the water offers in a contrast of striking and enchanting colors. Needless to emphasize how such a spectacle is completely free, just be careful during the descent if you are not fully trained, but once you reach the bottom you will be as if ravished by time in a unique experience and completely isolated from the rest of the world. From the bottom of the cave the glimpse of the circular entrance illuminated by the sun"s rays is incredibly attractive and there is an air of absolute relaxation and privacy. Beautiful emotions that only the natural Sea Cave of Marina Serra can convey for a summer as sparkling as the freshness of this clear sea ... happy vacations from Salento.
