Marina di Mancaversa is a seaside resort belonging to the municipality of Taviano, and lies along a stretch of coastline between Torre del Pizzo, Gallipoli and Torre Suda, Racale. Mancaversa in the west of Salento overlooks the Ionian Sea. The marina has low cliffs and is a destination for many tourists in the warm season.
Salento, Mancaversa - Taviano: Paterte beach is located in Marina di Mancaversa, a locality belonging to the municipality of Taviano in the province of Lecce. We are on the Ionian side of Salento and continuing south along a suggestive stretch of coast we come across this beautiful beach; Paterte beach has points of low, practicable cliffs that mix with a tongue of soft, golden sand. The whole area is sparsely frequented even in high season and retains that wild and solitary aspect; we are only a few kilometres south of the more famous Gallipoli but Paterte beach presents its characteristics of an area worth visiting to enjoy a well-deserved day in the sun. The sea is shallow for long stretches and retains that blue colour that is so transparent you can see your reflection in it; many families with children and people looking to relax, there are few services in the area and this is perhaps the most characteristic aspect of this stretch of coastline, so bring with you a cool bag full of cold drinks, a beach towel, a beach umbrella and have a good summer from the beach of Paterte di Mancaversa.
Salento, Mancaversa - Taviano: The Marina di Mancaversa beach is located on the Ionian coast of Salento about 15 kilometres south of Gallipoli, in the territory of Taviano in the province of Lecce. This stretch of coastline alternates between points of low cliffs that are easy to walk along and small sandy coves with a few sea pebbles that are clearly visible even as you enter the water; the sea is clear and crystalline and maintains a shallow enough depth to allow families with children to spend a quiet and relaxing day at the beach. The entire stretch of the Marina di Mancaversa beach maintains a solitary and detached aspect compared to the noisy and crowded beaches of Gallipoli, so that here one breathes an air of absolute relaxation and singular tranquillity. In terms of landscape, this stretch of coastline has those unmistakable characteristics in which the green of the Mediterranean maquis blends with the white of the soft sand and the dark grey of an uninterrupted cliff in an explosion of unique colours to which the blue of a wonderful sea is added. An invitation not to be underestimated, speaking of colours, would be to stay until late afternoon to admire a fairytale sunset and watch the sun gently disappearing over the horizon, but it is one thing to describe certain sensations and another to experience them first-hand, this is the magic of a Salento summer, happy holidays.
Salento, Mancaversa - Taviano: During a relaxing stroll along the coast of Marina di Mancaversa while the sea gently kisses our feet with a continuous and perpetual wave motion so pleasing to the senses, here we come across the Spiaggia del Mare dei Cavalli. In the past, this tongue of sand was used by the locals to bring their horses to be washed well, an ancient custom that has left its mark over the years; in fact, you can still see the well-established traces left on the ground by the wheels of the carts. The Spiaggia del Mare dei Cavalli (Beach of the Sea of Horses) has its own special charm beyond its name and history; although modest in size, this small beach has soft, white sand that alternates in several places with stretches of shallow cliffs. The sea is shallow for long stretches, and there are many families with children and locals who reach this stretch of beach during daylight hours to plant their beach umbrella and enjoy a quiet day at the beach. There are few services on the beach, so I do not recommend the place to those looking for the comforts of a well-equipped and comfortable lido. If you decide to visit the Spiaggia del Mare dei Cavalli, take along a cooler bag full of drinks, your snorkelling shoes and a mask and flippers to explore these wonderful seabeds that lend themselves so well to snorkelling. The beach is located adjacent to the coast road and is not far from the town centre so it will not be difficult, if need be, to find a bar or a supermarket for any need. This is the beauty and richness of this land, this is Salento, have a good summer.
